Such an Amazing Weekend

This past weekend I went to Sacramento. Todd wasn't originally going to accompany me but he finally decided to after I told him how much it would mean to me. While I was out catching up with old friends he was put to work. My grandma didn't have anyone to put up her outside Christmas lights so Todd did it. While he was doing that I went to have lunch with Cassie, Cassie's mom Stephanie, and Lauri. After lunch we decided to go surprise our old boss and Stephanie's friend Cheryl while she was working. She was so surprised that she started crying. This of course made me start crying. So she took her lunch break and we got to catch up for a bit. Later we decided that since I still had more time before meeting Courtney for lunch that we would walk around Ross because Stephanie still needed to find something for her husband. While we were there Cassie, Lauri, and I saw a little pair of jeans and Cassie says "you should buy these and keep them for Cole Newby.''
A little back story: while I worked at Carmichael Park I dated on of the other counselors there Buddy. As a joke because I was "in love with him" I named all the children we could have together...there was Cole, Susie, and Gwen Newbie. Anyways Buddy and I dated for a bit then stopped then started again but nothing really came out of our relationship
So back to Ross as we all were walking around the store I start talking about Buddy. I say that he was obsessed with me and then I was obsessed with him and Lauri said we were obsessed with each other. I thought the conversation was coming to a close so I just mention how he was a good kisser from what I remember of the 2 or 3 times that we actually did kiss. Well after I make this statement I look up and he is standing like 3 feet away from me. This freaked me out so bad that I ran to a different part of store with my ladies following were we all proceed to laugh to death. At first I thought that I made the whole thing up in my head...but Lauri confirm it. We wandered the store for a little bit longer and of course Stephanie was in the men's section which is right were Buddy was. We couldn't decide if I should go and talk to him or not. Well it was decided for me when after we looked at some shirts and I turn around and he is right there. He gave me a really weird look; you know the kind a dog gives if he is confused and I waved then gave him a hug. We caught up for minute then he left then we left. It was just so hilarious that we were talking about him then poof there he was.

After I said my goodbyes I went to coffee with Jill, Adam, Coutney, and baby Miranda. I was so happy to be able to see my friends. I found out that everyone was going out that night and even though we had just planned on staying the day I wanted to go to.
When coffee was over I went to go get Todd when I was informed that I had the chance to meet Christie's son Triston. I haven't met him yet so of course I jumped at the opportunity. Todd and I hung out there for a bit before returning to my grandma's for dinner. That night we all went out because Jill bribed Todd with 3 drinks. It was so much fun to see everyone!!

Yesterday we had Christmas in Corning with Todd's Dad's side of the family. I got to play with more babies. Everyone really liked the gifts we got them which made me really happy because I tried to think about what everyone would use and enjoy. I got a fishing pole, a blender, and Love Actually. I am so happy to finally have a good quality fishing pole and I have been wanting a blender for so long and I was seriously just thinking to myself how I wanted to rent Love Actually because it is my favorite holiday movie. Todd got a lot of nice things as well. As a girft for both of us Todd's step sister, her husband, Todd's brother, and his girlfriend got us tickets to see STOMP in Sacramento. I am super excited Todd and I have never been to a show or anything together so I am sure it will be so much fun. But it was nice to spend time with his family and see him play with this neice and nephew.

So..

I should be getting ready for work but I don't really want to right now...I am so excited to have most of the Christmas shopping done. Todd's whole family has their presents wrapped and under the tree. I think we did a pretty good job of getting everyone something that they could use. Hopefully they will like. Now all that is left is my mom, Todd, and my uncle. I have a couple ideas of what to get Todd but I am sure more will come to me while I am wandering stores. Also I cannot wait until tomorrow. I get to see everyone and I am super excited. It has been far too long since I have hungout with Cassie, Lauri, Courtney, or Heather. It will be good to catch up a bit before heading back to Chico to get ready for one of Todd's family Christmases. Ok well that is enough procrastination for one day!!

Ah Life

So I don't know why (well I do know why) but I have been feeling a little down lately. I feel like as I grow older nothing is turning out as expected. I am not a lawyer and I will not be a lawyer anytime soon. That makes me sad. Also my grandma has decided not to cook Christmas dinner. I feel like now there isn't really a point in going there at all if we are just going to forget our family traditions and eat out on a major holiday. It is something I have never done in my whole life and I am not looking forward to it. I know that she is getting old and doesn't have the help around the house that she needs to cook us a meal but it disappoints me that I can't be there to help keep the tradition because I will be celebrating the holiday with Todd's family. Don't get me wrong I love Todd's family I just wish I could be two places at once. PMS and Christmas shouldn't coincide it is a bad combo. Stop reading the ramblings of a crazy person and go about your day. Everything will be fine. I am happy that I get to see my grandma on Christmas. I haven't seen her since October. I am also excited about this weekend. I get to see Cassie and Lauri. I love catching up with old friends it always makes my heart happy. I just wish I was a tad bit better with keeping in contact with them. Oh and when I wake up there will be snow in Chico...watch

FINALLY

The Christmas Cards are officially done! Expect one in the mail soon!!

Our Christmas Tree

So I finally have pics of our tree all decorated...
Here it is without lights
Here it is with lights but you can't really tell because it is light outside

Also Nugget was playing in her new box and looked so cute I had to take advantage of it. She looks annoyed because I am bothering her. But I couldn't help it!!

Other than that nothing has been going on. I have been sick and Todd is getting ready for finals so we are laying low. I am getting super excited about the holiday though. I don't know what to get Todd though so that is my only stress.

Nothing New

So life has been pretty busy lately. I have been working a lot and getting ready for Christmas. Todd has decorated our tree and even put lights on our balcony. He is pretty amazing like that :) Other than that I am frantically trying to finish our Christmas Cards so everyone gets them BEFORE Christmas which is turning out to be a real chore because time is flying by. It is a good thing I start them in October. It would go a lot faster if I had a paper cutter. Other than that things are pretty mellow. Thanksgiving was spent in Greenville with Todd's family. I am looking forward to Cassie coming to Sacramento because I haven't seen her since summer. Yeah my life is super interesting...now I get to cook dinner for us and then start some laundry...YAY

Our Christmas Tree Adventure

Sunday was spent getting our Christmas tree. We drove to Todd's Dad's house then to Mount Hough. We had lunch overlooking Crystal Lake and then walked around the top of the mountain looking for the perfect tree. Todd and I took longer than anyone else to find our tree because I was being picky but it was worth it. Here are some pics of our adventure:

On of the best days ever!!

So most people think that I am crazy but I am so excited. No Doubt is going to tour again!! And they are working on their second album. I have been waiting for this for so long, it is going to be so amazing. I have decided to start saving money now. I want the best seats I could possibly get. Last time at Gwen Stefani we had pretty good seats and I want better!! I can hardly contain myself. I feel like one of those crazy teenager people but I don't care. This music has gotten me through my life. Anyways...I hope everyone is having as wonderful day as I am.

Getting ready for the holidays

I've been wanting to decorate for Christmas for a while now and finally got some supplies to do so. We are getting our Christmas tree next weekend and I am super excited. Every time I go out to the store I find myself looking at ornaments for the tree. I was ready a girl I went to high school with's blog (Stevie) and she had these super cute letters that spelled out Ho Ho that she made so I decided to copy her. I also decided that Todd, Nugget, and I needed stockings. It all turned out like this...

Also Todd's old roommate Rodney came to town from Corning and we all went to 80s night. It was so much fun. Todd and I haven't been out in a while and I was excited to hang out with friends and let loose.

Tonight I made my very own pot roast. I came up with the desire when I was clipping coupons and saw a picture of one. It was very simple it just took forever to make. It turned out pretty well and we will have left overs for the next couple of days. Also while clipping coupons I found one for cat treats. Nugget's old treats just expired so I thought it was perfect timing. Well the coupon was a $1 off and when I went to Target I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that the treats totaled $1.19. I was able to get cat treats for 19 cents!! Luckly I watch Oprah and one of her guest suggest buying 3 Sunday newspapers because you can get more coupons that way and I can buy two more bags of cat treats for that price. So needless to say Nugget will be spoiled with her treats.

Feeling at home

So this week two very exciting things happened. I got my name tag for work and today I got a little place card with my name on it like the ones you find on fancy office desks. I am very excited. Work is going really well which makes me really happy. Things really do happen for a reason...

When Todd is Away...

So on Sunday Todd went to the library fairly early in the day and after cleaning the whole apartment I was still itching for something to do. I decided that I wanted to make something with the apples that we got at Costco so they wouldn't go bad. I looked and looked on foodnetwork.com and couldn't find anything that I like besides apple pie. The problem was I didn't have a pie tin. So I came up with my own idea. Apple pie cup cakes. It is basically your own personal size apple pie. I think they turned out nicely.
Other than me distracting myself on my days off life has been good. Yesterday was my first day on my own drawer without having someone watch me the whole time which was somewhat liberating. It is supposed to take new people 30 minutes to complete the end of shift tasks but it only takes 10 for some reason. My co-workers are very impressed. I am not that impressed because I am just doing what they told me to do. I haven't made any too major mistakes yet so that is good.

I am really looking forward to the holidays. I want to go to Todd's dad's house soon so we can cut down our own tree and I can start decorating. I am glad that I finally live somewhere where I can decorate how I want not really having to worry about what others think. I care what Todd thinks and all but he is pretty laid back about everything and shares most of my opions or will at least try it my way for a little bit. Anyways that's all for now

The week so far

This week has been very hectic and busy. I got a preview of what my life would be like if I worked full time. I had training in sacramento which is pretty fabulous considering I basically got paid to visit family. Nothing super exciting happened I was just glad to spend time with my grandmothers, Courtney, and my sister. Oh wait I lied something exciting did happen. After work yesterday I decided that I was going to go the Rack to use my Nordstrom gift card that Todd's mom got me for my birthday. While I was there I walked around aimlessly. I ventured over to the purses. I spotted some L.A.M.B. bags designed by Gwen and my heart skipped a beat. I looked at the price and my heart fell...$300 and something after the price slash is still to much for me to afford. My mission from that point was to look at the prices of all the LAMB purses. I was almost to the end of the purses when I found it. An orange bag that Todd and I saw when I was living in LA, I dragged him to Nordstroms frequently so I could drool over these bags that I knew I could never afford. So I opened the zipper and looked at the price tag...$189. That's still too much...then I saw the thing that made me that happiest girl in the world. A sticker that said 35% off lowest price. OMG. I got out my cell phone and did some math. I usually hate math but I made and exception for this. With the discount and my gift card the purse only ended up being $70. There was no question I had to get this purse. So I did. I am so freaking excited about it. I have wanted a LAMB bag for years...YEARS. I knew that it would take forever for me to finally get one but I was patient and it paid off. I am now the owner of my very own LAMB bag. LIFE IS GREAT

Christmas Cards

Todd was gone yesterday because he had to take the EIT in Sacramento. So I was left to entertain myself for the day. This is what came of it:

I have rediscovered my joy of crafts. Now I want to set up my desk in the office and have my own crafting area. What would be great is if someone would pay me for doing what I love. Who knows maybe in the future.

My Busy Life

Life has been so crazy lately mostly because I have started y new job. So far I have completed all my training and they are paying for me to go to Sacramento for three days. I am so excited to finally have a job that has medical insurance. On Monday we had a staff meeting and I volunteered to participate in a pumpkin carving contest. Because of this Todd and I ventured to Biggs to go to a pumpkin patch. After looking at almost every single pumpkin they had to offer we decided that we needed 3 pumpkins (2 for me in case I mess up one and one for Todd). As it turned out I did need the second pumpkin because I ended up getting frustrated and cut too much off a very key part of the pumpkin...so I had to start all over. I carved pumpkins from 3:30-11:30 yesterday with an hour break for dinner. But the end result is fantastic...I am very impressed with myself.

Just a Lazy Tuesday

The day has been pretty uneventful. Woke up watched the view, showered, and then went to Wamu to pick up shirts for my first day of work. They are a lot cuter than I expected. Then I came home and decided to put some much needed work in the fall decorations that I bought at Micheal's yesterday. I have been feeling like I need to decorate the house for fall.

Then when I was bored with that I decided that I wanted to bake cookies. Well we only have one stick of butter and I don't want to drive all the way to the store for something as silly as butter so I have spent the last 1/2 hour looking for oatmeal cookies recipes without butter. I have finally found one and am going to continue my adventure...

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup quick cooking oats
  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips (such as Ghirardelli chocolate chips or Hershey's special dark chocolate chips)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter and sugars with an electric mixer. Beat in egg and vanilla. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Stir flour mixture into sugar mixture until well combined. Stir in oats, then chocolate chips. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes.

This last picture is of Nugget just because she is so darn cute!!!
